I am glad to hear JR is still considering the consultancy which I strongly recommend based on the process highlights they disclosed. regarding JR process brief description i will convey major comments that I hope will help them to recognize they will have a lot of opportunities to improve their process. My comments will be in red in their process descripton plus some major comment I detail now: a.-Reaction is the core step in the process, and reactants additon, temperature reaction control and other key variabes are key to promote the main reactions and diminish side reactions that affect all the process and of course the quality of the end products. b.-Although formals can be managed a little bit in the reactor they have to be eliminated in an additional step assuming how to managed the by products generated in that step that has to be recycled. More commnets in red down in this mail Formaldehyde mixed with acetaldehyde and gradually adding sodium hydroxide as reactor, Reaction is the main step in Pe process and affects everything downstream. Sodium acts as a catalizer and a reactant in the two main reactions, acetaldehyde in most PE processes is the limitant and Fomraldehyde is managed wi th molar excess. This means that it is better to add gradually the acetaldehyde than caustic. The way this must be done and the way reaction temperature mas be controlled i s key to each chemical reaction within the reactor. High impact can be obtained in Mo PE, DiPE, and other byporducts controllig reation variables neutralize the reaction mixture with formic acid Understood removal impurties by distillation, Evaportation and distillation are key to remove impurities and recovered excess formaldehyde fre o f those impurities, otherwise the reaction is dramatical ly affected. after colling and crystallization, Understood The solution concentrated under vacuum to get sodium formate crystallization and low purity penta, In order to obtain high-purity pentaerythritol,dissolved the low purity penta in hot water,after recrystallization, centrifugation, drying to get final product. ; Understood, but in four different technologies I know it is preffered to manage molar ratios in the raction in order to cristallize frist PE and then by fractionated crystallitazion obtain high purity Formate and low grade PE. ; ;The formals test result is 5-6%. JR is wondering whether your technical method is similar with above method or totally different? Conceptually the method is simmilar but the way the process is organized it is not neccesary the same. I forsee important opportunities for tehir process. Will you control the formals to a low spec by adjust the production mehtod? As i explained in the reactor is defined how different reaction including side reatiojs are driven, but formal will be created anyway. In order to remove formals a special treatment must be done adding specific equipments and assumig that the by products from that treatment has to be recycled to the process in order to keep overall yields under control I hope this explanation is enoug for the time being. I they see these answers I am sure they will realize waht I am talking about. In my perspective they a nice opportunity to imporve their process based on my long term expirience. I know trust is a long process in China, but they have to take a decission to start working or just close the option. I have been very open in this mail in order to encourage them to go.
