Physical Review期刊定位與評述 已有2人參與

APS除了傳統(tǒng)的Physical Review Letters (PRL), Physical Review A-E期刊外，最近幾年陸續(xù)推出了Physical Review X (PRX), Physical Review Applied (PRApplied) 和Physical Review Fluids (PRFluids), 今年又將推出Physical Review Materials(PRMaterials)。根據(jù)雜志定位和scope，我將他們分為三檔： （1）第一檔 PRX "Physical Review X (PRX): online-only, fully open access, peer-reviewed journal that aims to publish, as timely as possible, exceptional original research papers from all areas of pure, applied, and interdisciplinary physics. " PRX的定位是高于PRL的，且scope比PRL更廣，涵蓋基礎物理、應用物理和交叉物理，每年文章量200篇左右，是開源期刊且文章不限篇幅，今年IF會超過12，看來APS是想把PRX打造成為能與nature physics競爭的旗艦刊物； （2）第二檔 PRL和PRApplied "Physical Review Letters (PRL): the premier APS journal for current research, providing rapid publication of short reports of important fundamental research in all fields of physics. PRL provides its diverse readership with weekly coverage of major advances in physics and cross-disciplinary developments." "Physical Review Applied (PRApplied): an online-only journal dedicated to publishing the highest quality research across all aspects of experimental and theoretical applications of physics, including their interactions with other sciences, engineering, and industry" PRL無疑是APS的主導期刊，其scope主要覆蓋基礎物理，最近的文章量減少到每年2500篇左右，預測其IF會有一定上升，以后可能會穩(wěn)定在8~10之間；而PRApplied填補了APS在應用物理領域的空白，定位于發(fā)表應用物理的最高水平文章，每年250篇文章左右，預測今年IF會超過5且未來兩三年仍有較大上升空間，最終IF可能會接近并超過PRL。 （3）第三檔 PRA/B/C/D/E/Fluids/Materials PRA-E都是各自領域的頂級雜志，但是由于發(fā)文量都很大，所以除了PRD外，IF都低于4。新推出的PRFluids發(fā)文量較少，每年不超過300篇；預測即將推出的PRMaterials也會采用同樣的策略，用較小的發(fā)文量來提高文章質量和IF。 另外，2016年中科院JCR分區(qū)將PRX, PRL, PRApplied, PRD分為一區(qū)，PRA, PRB, PRC分為二區(qū)，PRE分為三區(qū)。 [ Last edited by mawenlong on 2017-2-28 at 11:26 ] |

PRApplied文章的總體定位是 “Physical Review Applied publishes high-quality papers that bridge the gap between engineering and physics, between industry and academia, and between current and future technologies.The Editors of Physical Review Applied encourage the submission of research that significantly advances the field of applied physics. Specifically, papers should: (i) Be forward thinking and provide a clear vision for future directions in applied physics, either in physical understanding or in technology. (ii) Present a qualitative, and not merely a quantitative or incremental, advance over prior work. (iii) Interest a large group of physicists and those using physics to make progress in other fields.” PRApplied的文章分為Letters，Rearch articles和Review三種，定位分別如下： “Letters are expected to be of the quality of a paper published in Physical Review Letters. Research Articles must, at a minimum, be at the level of a good article in other Physical Review journals. For Review Articles, we seek articles that will identify and elaborate on important developing directions in applied physics.” |

旗艦不一定就是IF最高的。 再說了，任何一個知名出版社的旗艦期刊不可能發(fā)文量只有 a few hundreds刊載量的，比如nature,science, jacs. ACS的flagship就是JACS，而不是ACS central science，雖然后者IF肯定會遠超前者: "The Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), founded in 1879, is the flagship journal of the American Chemical Society and ... "。因此PRL還會是APS的旗艦，即使推出了PRX。 我認為PRL， PRX， Reviews of Modern Physics才是APS的招牌期刊。看看圖中官網(wǎng)對期刊的介紹就知道了，這三個可是重點提名的。 PRL和PRX的實質性區(qū)別是： 1， PRX的準入門檻更高，但每年質量最好的工作（引用量最高的前幾名）卻是發(fā)表在PRL上的。事實上，PRL上每年最好的那前十篇文章都是可以碾壓Nature physics上前十的工作的。這些大家都是可以用web of science檢索驗證的。 2，SCOPE方面，PRX傾向于接收交叉領域和一些新興領域的工作，這有利于提高IF。PRL包含full arc of physics，所以上面有些工作解決的是一些非常冷門的或古老的物理問題，因此IF會在PRX之下。 至于PRapplied，顯然無法和PRL相提并論。 BP1]1U5Q_R501Q4_Y@GLX1M.png |

PRL的影響力毋庸置疑，現(xiàn)在也確實是APS的旗艦期刊，但如果PRX的IF持續(xù)走高，最好的工作會應該會慢慢轉移到PRX上。IF雖然不是唯一標準，但卻是衡量雜志成功的重要標準，或許正是受到了nature physics和nature communications等期刊高IF的沖擊，APS才意識到了PRL的潛在危機，削減PRL的文章量，并推出開源期刊PRX與之抗衡。PRX剛推出的時候，我們以為它只是PRA或PRB的精選版，遠不能與PRL相比，但是這幾年確迅速成為頂級雜志，其中高IF是重要原因。而PRApplied也在走與PRX類似的路線，在創(chuàng)刊初期通過較少文章量來達到高IF, 雖然現(xiàn)在還不能PRL的影響力相比，但是現(xiàn)在上面的文章質量已經(jīng)很高，預測未來會成為與PRL互補的頂級期刊。 |
