怒江州位于云南省西北部，與緬甸接壤。整個(gè)怒江電網(wǎng)處于云南電網(wǎng)的末端，甚至是整個(gè)南方電網(wǎng)的末端。由于受地理位置限制及區(qū)域經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展條件制約等各方面的影響，怒江電網(wǎng)110kV及以上電壓等級(jí)的網(wǎng)架結(jié)構(gòu)非常薄弱，與省網(wǎng)電氣聯(lián)絡(luò)較弱，多為單線單變運(yùn)行。
The power grid of Nujiang Prefecture, which is located in the northwestern part of Chinas Yunnan Province and  borders Burma, is the tail end of the  Yunnan Power Grid so far as to the whole China Southern Power Grid. Due to the influence of various aspects such as the  geographical restrictions and  restriction of regional economic development condition, the grid structures of  Nujiang power grid with 110kv or more voltage classes are very weak and less contacted with Province power grid with coil of single change，

By June 2015, the total installed capacity for small hydropower stations in Nujiang Prefecture has attained 1305.5MW, the normal electrical load during the monsoon( May to October per annum) general was 250MW-330MW
