He loves the light of the sun, he loves the sight of his mother's face.
He has not learned to despise the dust, and to hanker after gold.
Clasp him to your heart and bless him.
He has come into this land of an hundred cross-roads.
I know not how he chose you from the crowd, came to your door, and grasped your hand to ask his way.
He will follow you, laughing and talking, and not a doubt in his heart.
Keep his trust, lead him straight and bless him.
Lay your hand on his head, and pray that though the waves underneath grow threatening, yet the breath from above may come and fill his sails and waft him to the haven of peace.
Forget him not in your hurry, let him come to your heart and bless him.

他愛日光，他愛見他媽媽的臉。

內(nèi)容簡介　
新月集（The Crescent Moon，1903）主要譯自1903年出版的孟加拉文詩集《兒童集》，也有的是用英文直接創(chuàng)作的。詩集中，詩人生動描繪了兒童們的游戲，巧妙地表現(xiàn)了孩子們的心理，以及他們活潑的想象。它的特殊的雋永的藝術(shù)魅力，把我們帶到了一個純潔的兒童世界，勾起了我們對于童年生活的美好回憶。

Do You Know My Work？
One night a hotel caught fire，and the people who were staying in it ran out in their night clothes.  Two men stood outside and looked at the fire.
"Before I came out," said one," I ran into some of the rooms and found a lot of money. People don't think of money when they're afraid. When anyone leaves paper money in a fire，the fire burn sit. So I took all the bills that I could find. No one will be poorer because I took them."     
"You don't know my work," said the other.
"What is your work？"
"I'm a policeman."
"Oh！" cried the first man. He thought quickly and said, "And do you know my work?"
"No," said the policeman.
I'm a writer. I'm always tellings to ries about things that never happened."
