Fully funded PhD scholarships are available for 2016

The projects will involve applied and theoretical research into materials for nano-photonics and nanoscale electronics.
Typically the scholarships will start in Sept 2016 but it may be possible to join  ACTAlab as a researcher before the scholarship starts. Applications should be sent between Oct 2015 and April 2016.
Examples of current projects include:
Design of two-dimensional chalcogenide crystal heterostructures
Design of chalcogenide tuned mid-infrared photonic filters
Design of chalcogenide tuneable phase change displays
We are particularly interested in students who have studied courses in:
Physics
Chemistry
Material Science
Electronic Engineering
Photonics
Applied Mathematics
To be considered for a PhD position in ACTAlab we require the potential students to have a good command of English (TOEFL> 90, or IELTS >6.5).
