One PhD research assistantship is available immediately in the Integrated BioMicroFluidis Laboratory (https://faculty.cua.edu/luox) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Catholic University of America (CUA), a private research university in downtown Washington DC.  The research assistantship through a NSF CAREER award (in the process of being awarded) will cover living expense and full tuition.  The student will work on the establishment of a model lipid bilayer of extraordinary stability as well as general biofabrication in microfluidics for other applications.  Applicants with a background in Biology or Biochemistry with the enthusiasm to pursuing a higher degree in an interdisciplinary engineering setting are most welcome.  Applicants with a master degree are preferred.  However, bachelor applicants with outstanding records will also be considered.  Interested applicants please contact Dr. Luo at luox@cua.edu with C.V.
