another一般指不定事物中的另一個 ；指特定兩件東西中的另一個用 the other.  例如 ： If you don't like this one , try another.如果你不喜歡這個，試試另一個。  I have two brothers ; one is twenty , and the other is fifteen. 我有兩個兄弟， 一個20歲，另一個15歲 。

不矛盾啊。加定冠詞the的含義已經(jīng)很明顯了；不加定冠詞時表達“其他的”的概念，而another指“又一個、另一個、再一個”

another  =  an other
  an = 不定冠詞 = 任何一個
    If you don't like this one , try another
    如果你不喜歡這個,  試 另外 (任何) 一個

the other
  the = 定冠詞 = 非任選
    兩件東西中的另一個 = 非任選

each other = one another = 彼此 (不一定兩個)
  All of you must learn to treat each other with respect

$2/each = "two dollars each" = "two dollars apiece"
  each = 不定
  apiece = a piece (理由同上)  -> "a ..." / "an.." 是一有用字首
