Role Title:    Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry
Reports to:  Principal Scientist
Location:     Shanghai, China

Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities:
•        Be highly productive in designing and synthesizing compounds in the laboratory
•        Have an understanding of lead optimisation in drug discovery
•        Have an up to date knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry
•        Develop ability to supervise associate chemist when appropriate
•        Develop a good understanding of SAR, independently analyzing data to draw sound conclusions
•        Be able to present SAR data clearly and develop and present next logical compounds
•        Develop a good knowledge of medicinal chemistry
•        Regularly use automated equipment to maximise productivity

•        Accountable for experimental timelines in accordance with project objectives
•        Propose and execute innovative experiments which positively influence program/project direction
•        Contribute to solving experimental problems of program/project team
•        Have a strong awareness and accountability for personal safety and safety of direct reports (if appropriate)

•        Work effectively and help others achieve business goals and objectives
•        Accept ownership and strive to enhance the team’s performance
•        Proactively evaluate and incorporate new techniques and technologies into research activities, as needed

Specialised Knowledge:
•        Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry
•        Have an understanding of lead optimisation in drug discovery
•        Have a strong knowledge of synthetic chemistry literature and develop interest in program-related science
