job description
postdoctoral research associate—electrochemical n2/co2 reduction catalysts
this position is jointly hosted by prof. guoliang chai’s group in state key laboratory of structure chemistry, fujian institute of research on the structure of matter, chinese academy of sciences, prof. dan brett’s group in electrochemical innovation lab, department of chemical engineering and prof. ivan parkin’s group in department of chemistry at university college london.
salary: 250k-450k rmb (ca. 28~51k gbp, according to different postdoctoral talented plans)

duties and responsibilities
the appointee are expected to work in both china and the u.k. for conducting joint projects, and work collaboratively within the groups. the successful candidate need to develop several high-performance electrocatalysts and contribute to high-impact publications.

key requirements
first degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, materials science or cognate discipline; b.eng./m.eng., or equivalent.
ph.d in chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, materials science or a cognate discipline.
the expertise around materials synthesis, characterization and electrochemical measurements or computational simulation.
strong record for scientific publication and fluent english communication skills.

introduction of fjirsm
fujian institute of research on the structure of matter (fjirsm) was founded in 1960 by lu jiaxi, famous scientist, educator and member of the chinese academy of sciences (cas). the institute is an influential, comprehensive research base in structural chemistry and new crystal materials. since the launch of the cas knowledge innovation program in 2001, fjirsm has focused on structural chemistry, energy catalysis, nanomaterials, crystal engineering, photoelectric materials, laser technology integration and applications, electronic information, advanced manufacturing and power engineering. it emphasizes research, technological innovation and industrialization in a mutually supportive way. since its establishment, fjirsm has recorded 230 major achievements in basic research, high-tech innovation or project industrialization. the institute has won 26 key awards including six national science and technology awards, four cas technology advancement special awards and two national technology invention awards. fjirsm has excellent research facilities. since 2001, the institute has invested 85.8 million yuan in equipment. currently, the institute has about 4,900 pieces of research equipment with a total value of more than 100 million yuan.
