The University of Macau (UM), established in 1981, is the only multidisciplinary public University in the Macao SAR. The UM is fully funded by the Macau government. After 35 years of development, the University has made outstanding contributions in the fields of teaching, research and community service, and become one of the best international Universities comparable to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in the Pearl River Delta region. In some research fields, UM achieved almost similar or even better performance than University of Hong Kong or the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In August 2014, the UM officially moved into the new Hengqin campus (covering an area of about 1.09 square kilometers) and entered a stage of even faster development. In the 2014 ranking of the universities across Mainland of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, the University of Macau was ranked as a five-star Top university in China, the fourth in Hong Kong and Macau. The UM was ranked 351 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings in 2017, and ranked 151-175 in engineering and technology disciplines. The UM ranked 67th in the ranking of less-than-50-year-old Universities in 2017 worldwide by Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of UM was founded in 2014 by Dr. Chuxia Deng, a world-renowned scholar, and other 30 scholars recruited from the world leading Universities or research institutions in United States, Europe, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore etc. The design and implementation of the FHS is based on the model of the National Institutes of Health in USA where Professor Chuxia Deng worked for several decades. FHS implements an independent PI system. Within these few years, FHS have produced several hundreds of publications with many of them on some prestigious journals. The FHS provides the best research platform composed of the world leading high-end instruments and equipment, and creates a soft environment friendly to academic activities, cooperation and innovation. At the same time, it provides a comfortable living environment for teachers, students and other research members based on the new campus. The goal of FHS is to become a leading biomedical research institution addressing both basic and applied fields with high-risk human diseases as focus in the Pearl River Delta region.

Dr. Lijun Di's research team is currently conducting basic research on the molecular mechanisms of cancer development including the tumorigenesis, development and metastasis, as well as potential clinical cancer prevention and treatment. The research group also has a strong interest in the key signaling molecules and enzyme activities in the metabolic pathway, so the molecular mechanism of obesity and obesity-related diabetes is another research field. Dr. Di applies various research approaches including, but not limited to, molecular biology, cell biology, histochemistry, disease animal models, deep sequencing, etc. and actively carries out domestic and international collaborative research. At present, many first or corresponding authored articles have been published in the journals of Nature Communication, Nature structure Molecular Biology, Clinical Cancer Research, ATVB, FABSJ, Oncogene, Cell Death Disease, JBC, etc. Dr. Di’s group is keenly looking for postdoc fellows for collaborative work.

Qualification
Dr. Lijun Di’s group is looking for two categories of candidate postdoc fellows according to the UM funding policy. The candidates should have experience in cancer, obesity and diabetes related research etc, with publication in related field. The candidate should have strong background in biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, epigenetics, bioinformatics etc, and is the specialist on one or some of these subjects. Having strong interest in doing research, extremely sensitive to scientific questions. The candidates should be willing to be fully involve in research. Most importantly, the candidate should be willing to do collaborative work, have excellent professional spirit, and have a long-term plan to do academic research.

Type A: The candidate should have graduated with both bachelor and PhD degree from Top 200 Universities ranked by Times Higher Education World University Rankings or the 985/211 Universities of China within 2 years (the Universities awarding the Bachelor degree and PhD degree can be different). The candidate has published at least 1 representative research article on the world renowned journals. The candidate has basic research training and has the ability to perform research with limited dependence.
Type B: The candidate should have graduated with PhD degree from high ranked Universities within 2 years. The candidate has published at least 1 representative research article on the world renowned journals. The candidate has basic research training and has the ability to perform research half independently.
Salary:
Type A: 40000 MOPs per month（60000 USD per year）， 20000MOPs for conference or research travel，start with 2 year contract
Type B: 28000 MOPs per month（43000 USD per year）， 14000MOPs for conference or research travel，start with 2 year contract
Accommodation in Macau
The current exchange rate for MOP and USD is 7.8:1. The salary is subjected to 4% of total Tax. The UM will provide the accommodation for the following categories:
One Bedroom and one Bathroom, 20 squre meters,plus shared kitchen, charge 1900MOPs/Month
One Bedroom, one living room, one kitchen, and one bathroom unit, 50 sqare meters, charge 4400MOPs/Month
For two-bedroom apartment with living room, 70 square meters, the marked cost is 10000MOPs/Month outside of campus.
