Research line:
Micronutrients are essential for maintaining a good human health even though they are only required in trace amounts. One of such micronutrients is selenium (Se). The proposed thesis will be focused on the speciation of selenium compounds in some physiological human processes as in the urine for its role in the formation of kidney stones and in breast or skin cancer. Developed in collaboration with Hospitals of Barcelona and International institutions. Will learn and use techniques in Synchrotron facilities and in laboratory as ICP-MS, HPLC, UV... as needed.
