我們的研究重點(diǎn)是探索RNA結(jié)構(gòu)和相互作用在生物學(xué)中的作用，特別是G -四鏈體結(jié)構(gòu)/相互作用和非編碼RNA結(jié)構(gòu)/相互作用在哺乳動物轉(zhuǎn)錄組中的功能及其與基因調(diào)控、RNA代謝和疾病的相關(guān)性。目前實(shí)驗(yàn)室的兩個(gè)新研究方向是開發(fā)一些用于檢測、成像、干擾這些重要RNA結(jié)構(gòu)和相互作用的靶向工具，以及發(fā)明一些創(chuàng)新的、以核酸為基礎(chǔ)的技術(shù)來感知化學(xué)污染物和生物毒素。

Introduction of Team:
Prof. Chun Kit Kwok is currently recruiting highly talented researchers to join the lab. Dr. Kwok, an associate professor of Chemistry Department in City University of Hong Kong, is an expert in nucleic acid chemistry and biology. Recently he has published a series of articles in prestigious journals including Nature, Nature Methods, Nature Communications, Nature Protocols, Genome Biology, Nucleic Acid Research, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, and Chemical Science. In addition, he has obtained many awards owing to his excellent research including Royal Society International Exchange Fellowship, Croucher Innovation Award, CityU President Award, and etc. Also, he has been invited to write reviews and feature articles as corresponding author for top-ranked journals such as Trends in Biochemical Sciences, Trends in Biotechnology, Nature Plants, Nature Chemical Biology, Cold Spring Harbor Perspectives in Biology, etc. Since 2016, Prof. Kwok’s lab has established many collaboration projects with Universities both locally and globally (Cambridge University, Oxford University, Tsinghua University, National University of Singapore, Sun Yat-sen University, University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and etc.). Our research focus is to explore the role of RNA structures and interactions in biology, especially the functions of G-quadruplex structures/interactions and non-coding RNA structures/interactions in the mammalian transcriptome and their relevance to gene regulation, RNA metabolism and diseases. Two new research directions in the Kwok lab are to develop targeting tools for detection, imaging, intervention of these important RNA structures and interactions, as well as to invent innovative nucleic acid-based technologies for sensing chemical pollutants and biological toxins.

Research Themes

2) RNA biology and gene regulation
3) Aptamer development and application

--Candidates with excellent analytical chemistry and molecular science skills with experience in nucleic acid aptamer and biosensing will be preferred for the chemist postdoc post.  

--Candidates with excellent molecular biology and chemical biology skills with experience in RNA structure and biology will be preferred for the biologist postdoc post.

Qualified candidates should have accomplished their Ph.D. degree in related areas, strong publication track records, and outstanding written and spoken English.

Expected salary: 24500-33000 HKD/month depending on research experience, publications, and qualifications
