Applicants have to settle the application fee by this deadline. Otherwise, their applications will be not further processed. 4-10 Dec 2020 Supervisors to contact the most qualified applicants for interviews By 11 Dec 2020 Supervisors to submit up to 2 nominations to the DRC 6-8 Jan 2021 Meeting of PolyU Selection Panel to select the best candidates for submission to the RGC By 11 Jan 2021 Supervisors to polish the research plans and vision statements of the candidates selected by the PolyU Selection Panel Early/mid-Mar 2021 Announcement of results by RGC Promotional Websites · UGC’s website of the Fellowship Scheme: https://cerg1.ugc.edu.hk/hkpfs/index.html · PolyU’s promotional website: https://www.polyu.edu.hk/ro/hkphd-fellowship/ The Fellowship Award from the RGC: Monthly stipend of HK$26,600 and conference and research related travel allowance of HK$13,300 per year for a maximum of three years. PolyU will award those with a four-year normal study period the same provision during their fourth year of study and award each PhD Fellowship awardee with a tuition scholarship covering the entire normal study period. Hall accommodation in the first two years of study will also be guaranteed. Admission Requirements We are looking for high quality candidates worldwide who are able to demonstrate: · Academic excellence · Research ability and potential · Cultural diversity (an attribute specially emphasized by the RGC) · Leadership ability and societal responsibility · Communication and interpersonal skills In addition to the above, candidates must also satisfy the English language requirements of the University. For the 2021/22 admission cohort, the requirements for those RPg applicants who do not have a degree for which English was the language of instruction at a recognised university are: · An overall score of at least 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); OR · A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 80 or above for the Internet-based test or 550 or above for the paper-based test. All English language test scores are considered valid for two years after the date of the test. |
