論語(yǔ)--我思故我在
子夏曰：“賢賢易色；事父母，能竭其力；事君，能致其身；與朋友交，言而有信。雖曰未學(xué)，吾必謂之學(xué)矣。
Tsze-hsia's views of the substance of learning.
Tsze-hsia said, "If a man withdraws his mind from the love of beauty, and applies it as sincerely to the love of the virtuous; if, in serving his parents, he can exert his utmost strength; if, in serving his prince, he can devote his life; if, in his intercourse with his friends, his words are sincere:-- although men say that he has not learned, I will certainly say that he has."
子夏曰①：“賢賢易色②；事父母能竭其力；事君能致其身③；與朋友交，言而有信。雖曰未學(xué)④，吾必謂之學(xué)矣⑤。”
【今譯】
　　子夏說(shuō)：“尊重有賢德的人，而看輕貌美的女色；事奉父母能盡力而為；為君主做事，能有獻(xiàn)身精神；和朋友交往，說(shuō)話誠(chéng)實(shí)，能講信用。這樣的人即使自謙說(shuō)沒(méi)有學(xué)習(xí)過(guò)什么，我也一定要說(shuō)他已有學(xué)問(wèn)了�！�
　　【注釋】
　　①子夏：姓卜，名商，字子夏。孔子的學(xué)生。②賢賢：第一個(gè)“賢”作動(dòng)詞用，表示尊重、追求。第二個(gè)“賢”是名詞，指賢人，即有道德有學(xué)問(wèn)的人。易：有改變、輕視之意。色：女色。③致：送，奉獻(xiàn)。④雖曰未學(xué)：即使說(shuō)沒(méi)有上過(guò)學(xué)。⑤謂：說(shuō)，認(rèn)為。
　　【評(píng)點(diǎn)】
　　子夏這段話，得之于孔子�？鬃诱J(rèn)為學(xué)是為了用，學(xué)要能運(yùn)用。學(xué)習(xí)知識(shí)不是目的，應(yīng)用才是目的。你在實(shí)際生活中，能尊重賢人勝于美色；對(duì)父母能竭盡全力實(shí)行孝道；做官時(shí)，能為國(guó)家、為君主獻(xiàn)出一切；與朋友交往，能為朋友誠(chéng)心誠(chéng)意出力。把這四條都做到了，你即使沒(méi)有上過(guò)學(xué)，沒(méi)有讀過(guò)《詩(shī)》、《書(shū)》、《禮》、《樂(lè)》，孔子也認(rèn)為他是一個(gè)有學(xué)問(wèn)的人。這里運(yùn)用的就是我們今人所言的“學(xué)以致用”的原則。強(qiáng)調(diào)的是學(xué)習(xí)知識(shí)要實(shí)踐，要身體力行，不要偏面理解為孔子不重視知識(shí)學(xué)習(xí)
