The structural acrylic adhesive is preferred. The sample material for the bimetal tensile test and the aluminum alloy for adhesion should be first subject to surface treatment for maintenance of a dry and clean surface to be bond. The surface should be free of moisture, dust, grease dirt etc. for guaranteeing a desirable bonding result. Then, Adhesive A and B are uniformly mixed and quickly applied to either adhesive surface. Next, both adhesive surfaces are bond. An adhesive sample of certain strength can be obtained at 3-5min but one of maximum strength can only be obtained at 24h. The tensile sample will be processed after the adhesive sample reaches its highest strength. To guarantee that the sample fractures at the bimetal interface during tension, the width of the inlay casting interface should be minimized during processing of the tensile sample. The sample should be ground with abrasive paper before testing. |
