Specifically the longger the Eu-O bond length is, the lower the charge transfer state energy will be. In this test, Eu3+ was evenly distributed inside of glass, acting as a component of glass structure and coupling with O2- of non-bridging oxygen into Eu3+-O bond. As oxygen has a larger electronegativity, which makes it difficult for excited electronics to transfer from ligand O2 - to Eu3+, therefore the required excitation wavelength should be located around 280nm of near ultraviolet waveband. |

In this study, Eu3+ was evenly distributed within the glass and participated the ionic O2- and Eu3+ bond formation. Due to its strong electronegativity , it is difficult for electron transfer from ligand O2- to Eu3+, thus it requires a near ultraviolet excitation (280 nm) with higher energy level. |
