PhD position at the George Washington University

PhD position in advanced molecular modeling of materials A Ph.D. position is now available in the area of advanced molecular modeling of materials at the George Washington University. The position will start in Fall 2017. The molecular modeling group at GWU works on materials theory on a variety of topics. The current extramurally funded research include: Design of novel solar materials by extreme conditions (funded by Department of Energy through Energy Frontier Research in Extreme Environments Center https://efree.carnegiescience.edu/); Modeling based design of freeze-case materials (funded by National Science Foundation https://nsf.gov/); Advanced molecular modeling of nucleation and growth of natural gas hydrates (funded by National Science Foundation https://nsf.gov/), and Extreme physics and chemistry of carbon (funded by Sloan Foundation through Deep Carbon Observatory https://deepcarbon.net//). Primary computational methods include quantum simulation based on Density Functional Theory and molecular dynamics combined with advanced sampling method. A good GPA is essential for admission. The candidates with keen interest in theory and computation are encouraged to apply. Experience in coding and Unix/Linux environment is preferred.
