27 July 2018 Ph.D. position available at Purdue University, focusing on design, fabrication, testing and integration of organic chemical sensor capable of detecting various volatile fatty acids. Research will range from sensor design, fabrication, and characterization, as well as application-specific testing, including, but not limited to, system integration, etc. The candidate should have a M.S. (exceptional individuals with B.S. might be considered) in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Physics or related field(s). Prior experience in at least one of the following is required: organic electronics (OECTs, OFETs, OLEDs, OPVs, etc.), solution processing, wet (chemistry) lab, cleanroom fabrication, device fabrication, circuit design and testing. Prior publishing in journal or conference proceeding is desirable. Additional experience in bioelectronics, embedded systems, polymer synthesis, and 3D printing is a plus. Starting date should be before Spring 2019 semester (classes start in early January but it is desirable for the start date to be during the Fall 2018 semester). Project range from sensor design, device and system fabrication and characterization, as well as application-specific testing. The candidate should have a B.S. (or M.S. for Ph.D.) in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics or related field(s). Prior experience in at least one of the following is desirable: OECTs, MIPs, organic sensors, organic electronics, organic chemistry, solution processing, wet (chemistry) lab, cleanroom fabrication, device fabrication, and microfabrication. Prior publishing in journal or conference proceeding is desirable. Additional experience in chemical synthesis is a plus. Starting date should be Fall 2018, or no later than Spring 2019 semester.
