Highlights • Stipend, $41,209 per year for four years (2019 rate, indexed, tax free) • Career development fund up to $10K each year • Tuition Fees covered for the full four year candidature There is a possibility of another top-up $10k from our own funds depending the fund availability and quality of the candidates. Candidates must be attached to approved projects and each project can take in at most two students. Our approved project: Title: Cyber Security of Energy Critical Infrastructure Project Description: The project has following components: (i) Modelling smart grid (SG) in providing a baseline for detecting potential cyberattacks affecting the system’s operation. We will also use the Blockchain technology to securely archive sensitive data and secure access. (ii) SG data involves personal privacy and service provider’s commercial information. We will conduct SG data forensics over privacy-preserving environment. IDEAL CANDIDATE In general, the skill set for the first project component is applied cryptography or general cyber security; while the skill set for the second project component is data analytics or machine learning. We believe a candidate with strong mathematics can be suitable for either project component. Some knowledge on power system will be a plus but not essential as we have the powerful energy system software/tool Powerfactor for modelling/analysis of the energy systems.
