With its world-class faculty members and state-of-the-art facilities, the Centre strives to advance knowledge in key areas of cognition and brain sciences through cutting edge research, maximizing opportunities for community stakeholders to increase the impact of interdisciplinary brain sciences. Prof. Barry Lee Reynolds實驗室簡介 https://alll.fed.um.edu.mo/ The Applied Linguistics, Language, and Literacy lab, ran under the supervision of Prof. Barry Lee Reynolds, is looking to recruit a PhD student to work on a research project requiring the collection of eye-tracking data. The student will work with the PI and other PhD and Master students to execute the project. The project has three main directions of inquiry: incidental vocabulary acquisition, contextual richness, and written corrective feedback. We will use experimental methods involving eye-tracking to analyze adult participants’ processing of targeted words and other AOI/ROI in connection with more traditional offline data collection methods to gain insights into the means leading to incidental vocabulary acquisition and second language writing improvements. Qualifications: - Undergraduate degree from world ranked (QS World University Ranking top 400/Times Higher Education top 400) or first rate Chinese university (Double First Class/985/211) - Relevant Master Degree (e.g., Applied Linguistics, English Studies, Psychology, Linguistics, Psycholinguistics) - Knowledge of Eye-tracking research design and procedures - Knowledge of SPSS and proficiency in statistics / quantitative methods - Excellent English academic writing and communication skills - Good communication and team-work abilities Preferably: - Knowledge of NVivo - Knowledge of Endnote - Knowledge of E-Prime - Knowledge of qualitative research methods - Knowledge of R Duties: - Recruit participants - Design experimental stimulus - Collect and analyze data - Review literature - Other related research duties Benefits: - Strong intellectual support from a strong and dedicated research team - Monthly stipend - Opportunities for applying for conference and research related travel allowance - Opportunities to publish findings in indexed high-impact journals - Learn state of the art techniques through training offered by the Centre Contact Interested candidates should send a letter of application, CV, English proficiency test score(s), academic transcripts, and an English writing sample to Prof. Barry Lee Reynolds BarryReynolds@um.edu.mo Additional information about the Applied Linguistics, Language, and Literacy Lab can be found at: https://alll.fed.um.edu.mo/ Additional information about graduate school enrollment at the University of Macau can be found at: https://grs.um.edu.mo/index.php/ ... degrees-programmes/ |
