格羅寧根大學(xué)（世界前100大學(xué)）助理教授francesco maresca博士新開(kāi)放兩個(gè)全獎(jiǎng)phd位置，關(guān)于材料多尺度力學(xué)建模。

i have two open phd positions fully funded by nwo (netherlands organization for scientific research), related to multi-scale mechanics modelling

location:
faculty of science and engineering, university of groningen
salary:

[1] ~ € 2300 gross per month in the first year, up to a maximum of ~ € 3000 gross per month in the fourth and final year (depending on the latest collective labour agreement for dutch universities), based on a full-time position
[2] holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income
[3] 8.3% year-end bonus

supplementary info:

[1] phd candidate is automatically embedded in the graduate school engineering mechanics in the netherlands.
[2] phd project-related activities, e.g. summer school and international conference are covered by the funding.

supervisor info:
dr. francesco maresca is currently setting up a new group at rug, as an assistant professor on mechanics, mechanical engineering and materials science from september 2019. he defended his phd with cum laude (top 5%) in 2015 in the group of prof. marc geers at tu/e (eindhoven university of technology). then he spent 3.5 years as a postdoctoral researcher at epfl (école polytechnique fédérale de lausanne), working with prof. william curtin. a few selected publications include:

application requirements:
the applicants are expected to have the background in atomistic modelling of materials (molecular dynamics) and solid mechanics (theoretical/computational).

francesco maresca博士是我在埃因霍溫理工大學(xué)的直系師兄，科研水平很高，是marc geers教授（現(xiàn)歐洲力學(xué)學(xué)會(huì)主席）的得意門(mén)生之一，平時(shí)也會(huì)協(xié)助marc geers教授指導(dǎo)我的phd課題，跟我們材料力學(xué)組以及william curtin教授（現(xiàn)洛桑聯(lián)邦理工學(xué)院，機(jī)械院院長(zhǎng)）那邊也保持著良好的聯(lián)系。就我個(gè)人感覺(jué)而言，他很有耐心，愿意花時(shí)間指導(dǎo)學(xué)生，平常也很容易相處，不過(guò)在學(xué)術(shù)問(wèn)題上相當(dāng)嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)！他目前有兩名phd學(xué)生，正處于事業(yè)上升期，希望盡快招到合適的phd候選人開(kāi)展以上課題工作。

有固體力學(xué)理論/計(jì)算背景就可以試試看，如果再加上分子動(dòng)力學(xué)背景的話就更好了。
