We have several funded openings for PhD students at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory (EVL) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), for research in the areas of VIS, HCI and ML, including: - Visual data analytics, in particular problems related to interactive visual analysis. - Data structures and indexing techniques for Big Data visualization. - Urban data analytics, especially the use of different data types (images, land use information, 3D building geometry, etc.) to propose solutions to real problems in cities. - Applied machine learning, in particular extraction of image features, graph neural networks, and modeling of urban phenomena.
