PhD Student Position in Mechanics of Materials at the City University of Hong Kong Contact information: Dr. Xinrui Niu Xinrui.niu@cityu.edu.hk Research website: https://www.niusresearchgroup.org A PhD student position is available in spring or fall 2021 in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong with research direction of mechanics of materials. The interested student could contact Dr. Niu at xinrui.niu@cityu.edu.hk for consideration. Requirements: • B.S. or M.S. in Solid Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics and other related engineering and scientific fields. • An overall GPA not less than 80/100 for the top 985 universities, 82.5/100 for 985 universities, 85/100 for 211 universities (excluding non-technical courses). • Fulfill the language requirement: a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based) is required; or an overall band score of 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or College English Test Band 6 score no less than 490. Additional information: • Monthly Stipend: 17700 HKD. • The student is expected to work on research topics related to mechanics-based design of polymer composite structures by conducting mechanical experiments, finite element analysis, 3D-printing, etc. • The City University of Hong Kong is rising rapidly in the recent decade, especially in the engineering regime.
