PhD Student Position in Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Structures at the City University of Hong Kong Contact information: Dr. Xinrui Niu Xinrui.Niu@cityu.edu.hk 1-2 PhD student positions are available in Spring or Fall 2021 in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong with research direction of mechanical behavior of biomedical structures. The interested student could contact Dr. Niu at xinrui.niu@cityu.edu.hk for consideration. Requirements: • B.S. or M.S. in Solid Mechanics, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics and other related engineering and scientific fields. • An overall GPA not less than 85/100 (the standard could be flexible depending on the tier of universities). • Fulfill the language requirement: a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based) is required; or an overall band score of 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Additional information: • Monthly Stipend: 17700 HKD. • The student is expected to work on research topics related to mechanics-based design of biomedical structures by conducting mechanical experiments, finite element analysis, 3D-printing, etc. • Candidates with experience in direct-ink writing 3D printer, fabrication of resin-based composite, bending test, indentation test, fatigue test and analysis, atomic force microscope (AFM) and Abaqus will be prioritized. • The City University of Hong Kong is rising rapidly in the recent decade, especially in the engineering regime. We ranked 16th in the Best Global Universities for Engineering according to U.S. News in 2020. |
