Laurens教授課題組招收華南師范大學(xué)-荷蘭埃因霍溫理工大學(xué)聯(lián)合培養(yǎng)博士生

Prof. Laurens T. de Haan is looking for a PhD student for a project on liquid crystal polymer photonic devices 1. Professor Laurens T. de Haan, from the group of Device Integrated Responsive Materials (DIRM) at South China Normal University (SCNU) in Guangzhou, is looking for a master student to perform a PhD project on photonic devices based on liquid crystal polymers. 2. The DIRM group was founded as a collaboration between South China Normal University and Eindhoven University of Technology from Eindhoven, the Netherlands. The main focus of the group is the development of stimuli-responsive devices based on liquid crystal polymers. More information about the group can be found at https://www.dirmlab.org/. South China Normal University is a Double First Class university in China. Eindhoven University of Technology is in the top 200 universities in the world and among the top universities in Europe. 3. Prof. de Haan obtained his PhD degree from Eindhoven University of Technology on the subject of “Programmed Morphing of Liquid Crystal Networks”. He then joined the DIRM team as a postdoc and later became a full professor at the same group. His main research interest is responsive surfaces based on liquid crystal polymers. He has published papers in high ranked journals such as Advanced Functional Materials, JACS, and Angewandte Chemie. The candidate should have a chemistry background with a focus on Polymers, Supramolecular Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, or a similar subject. Daily communication with the supervisor will be in English, so the candidate is required to have a good English language level. 5. This is a joint project between South China Normal University and Eindhoven University of Technology. The student will be a PhD student at both of these universities, and receive a PhD degree from both institutes at the end of the program. The student will spend roughly half of the time at Eindhoven University of Technology, and the project will be co-supervised by Prof. Albert Schenning from this institute. The student is expected to apply for a CSC scholarship to cover the costs of living in the Netherlands. 6. The project will start in September of 2022. The candidate should enroll in the pre-selection for PhD students of South China Normal University of 2021, and is required to have a published paper in SCI journal to do so. 7.
