Department of Chemistry at the University of South Dakota is currently seeking a postdoctoral researcher/visiting scholar who is interested in working in the field of organic chemistry relevant to organic semiconducting materials. The research involves synthesis, characterization, and computational investigation of new types of organic semiconducting materials. The minimum qualification: Ph.D in Chemistry The ideal candidate for this position should be highly motivated, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and independent thinking and problem solving skills. Candidates with background in any of the following three research areas will be considered, 1) synthetic organic chemistry, 2) electrochemistry, and 3) computational chemistry. Applicant who has combined research experience in any two of these fields will be given prioritized consideration. Initial appointment is 1 year with potential renewal for second year depending on the job performance. The appointment start date is June 22, 2010. The Chemistry Department at the University of South Dakota offers very competitive salary and high quality mentoring program for incoming postdoctoral researcher. Salary for this position depends on the experience and is in the range of $35,000 to $40,000/year plus benefits. The University of South Dakota is located in Vermillion, South Dakota, a Midwest college town with friendly natural and social environments and low cost living.
