| The scanning probe microscope have brought human beings into the atomic world, which made people not only observe the arrangement of atoms on the surface of material, but also realize the manipulation of the atom in accordance with of human beings’ wishes. This paper reviews the history of scanning probe microscopy as well as introduces the basic principles and the latest applications of it, mainly focusing on the morphology, characterization, and nano-fabrication and presenting direction of current research on scanning probe microscopy. |

This paper reviews the history of SPM, introduces the basic principles and the latest applications, mainly focusing on the morphology, characterization, and nano-fabrication and presenting current research direction on SPM. |
