Postdoc: Post doc in metamaterial/ plasmonics/ nanophotonnics At Research Center of Applied Sciences (RCAS), Academia Sinica, Field(s): optics and optoelectronics Application deadline: Nov 15 (Mon), 2010 Submitted: Sep 13, 2010 Contact: Shu-Wei Chang E-mail: swchang@gate.sinica.edu.tw Address: Research Center of Applied Sciences, Academia Sinica 128, section 2, Academia Road, Nankang, Taipei 115, Taiwan Job description: A position at the level of post doctorate in the area of metamaterial, plasmonics, and nanophotonics is available at the Research Center of Applied Sciences (RCAS), Academia Sinica, Nankang, Taipei, Taiwan. Job description 1. Theoretical study on the optical response of chiral metamaterial and plasmonics. 2. Potential applications of chiral metamaterials on the active semiconductor photonic devices. 3. Tight collaboration with the experiment colleague in RCAS on the analysis, design, and optimization of metamaterial/plasmonic photonic devices. Qualification 1. The potential candidates must have an extensive numerical coding experience in Fortran/C++ and commercial softwares such as Matlab/Mathematica. 2. Experience in running/developing the codes of finite-difference-time-domain method and finite-element method on computer clusters with a linux-based environment is required. 3. Applicants with additional research experience and knowledge in semiconductor photonic devices, quantum mechanics, condensed-matter physics, and electromagnetism/electrodynamics are preferred. Salary Negotiable, or in accordance to the salary scale of Academia Sinica Duration The preferred starting date is between mid October to mid November, but negotiable. This opening is a 1-year offer, with renewal possible based on the research progress.
