Postdoc: Postdoc Position C2CA At BARCELONA SUPERCOMPUTING CENTER, Computer Applications in Science and Engineering Field(s): astrophysics, atmospheric physics, combustion physics, computational physics, computer science, energy physics, environmental physics, general physics, geophysics, high pressure physics, high-energy physics Application deadline: Sep 16 (Thu), 2010 Submitted: Sep 16, 2010 Contact: MERCE CALVET E-mail: rrhh@bsc.es Phone: 93.413.77.16 Job description: The Computer Applications in Science and Engineering department offers a two-year Postdoc position to lead BSC scientific and technical tasks in the FP7 European Project (C2CA) Advanced Technologies for the Production of Cement and Clean Aggregates from Construction and Demolition Waste. The work will consist in developing numerical models to simulate the physical process envolved in a kiln operation. The algorithms will be implemented in a numerical code (Alya) developed at BSC and able to run on large distributed memory supercomputers. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with the Institute of Chemical Engineering and High Temperature Chemical Processes in Greece, which will provide BSC with the physical models and their experience in numerical modelling of such processes. The keywords of the work are: compressible flow; chemical reactions; heat transfer; turbulent flow; radiation; particle tracking. Requirements: ? PhD in Physics, Mathematics or Engineering ? Numerical methods for solving PDE’s: Finite element, Finite volume ? Parallelization, MPI/OpenMP We are looking for people having ?
