The post doc opening concerns the realization of feedback systems to control the thermal gradient of low loss mechanical oscillators in aluminum and silicon, around room temperature as well as liquid nitrogen and liquid helium temperatures. Work on data acquisition codes and management of linux PCs is also part of the job. The researcher is ideally experienced with control systems, electronics, programming (C++, Visual Studio) and data acquisition. Handling of low temperature and vacuum systems is a benefit. The researcher would ideally collaborate with all members of the group, formed both by experimentalists and theoreticians. RareNoise is a project funded by a Starting Independent Researcher Grant of the European Research Council ERC (FP7-IDEAS) http://erc.europa.eu/. The project is highly innovative and interdisciplinar and we expect to get important results within the postdoc position time-span. The INFN-Padova (http://www.pd.infn.it) works in close connection with the Padova University Physics Department, which is rated among the best places in Europe. The researcher is expected to spend most of the time at the experiment site at the LNL laboratories of INFN (http://www.lnl.infn.it), 10km from Padova. Net salary will be about 1500Euros per month. Free accommodation at the laboratory could be arranged at least for the initial period. Lunches are also provided for during week days. There is a 35 year age limit for this postdoc position.
