If, on the other hand, you have in the meantime obtained new results that are pertinent to the referees' comments, there would, in principle, be no obstacle to reassessing an appropriately supplemented manuscript. Sincerely yours, Referee 1: Importance: B) important Hypotheses Yes/No: Yes Appropriate Length: Yes Different Journal: Recommend Acceptance: Referee Letter: The authors describe the preparation of chiral salen Co(III) complex immobilized onto modified zirconium poly(styrene-phenylvinyl-phosphonate)-phosphate. The immobilized complexes were used as catalysts for hydrolytic kinetic resolution(HKR) of epoxide. Highly enantioselective reaction condition has been developed for the HKR reaction. The following points should be considered. The authors use the organic-inorganic hybrid support for the immobilized catalyst preparation. In order to emphasize the advantages of this type of support in the immobilization, the authors should show some results obtained from the usual organic supports such as polystyrene support. For example, commercially available Merrifield resins can be used as support for the immobilization. Data of nonsupported catalyst are also required to compare the results. Leaching of the cobalt is not reported in the manuscript. Table 2 and 3 show the enantioselectivity data of the unreacted epoxide. The yield and the enantioselectivities of the chiral diols obtained in the HKR should also be discussed. |
