IEEE也open access？ 已有5人參與

The majority of IEEE’s transactions and journals are now giving authors the option of making their articles available for free in the IEEE Xplore digital library. All but three of the 86 journals produced by IEEE Publishing Operations are including the IEEE Open Access choice as of 30 September. Additionally, 12 journals published by the IEEE Computer Society and all six of the journals published by the IEEE Communications Society now include this option when they’re submitted for publication. More journals will be added each month, with the goal of eventually extending the option to all IEEE journals.
The option evolved from a 2010 policy decision by the IEEE Board of Directors. Authors of accepted manuscripts may choose to pay a processing fee of US $3000 per article so their work is available free of charge to all when it is published in the IEEE Xplore digital library. Usually, authors publish their article at no charge. Traditionally, IEEE journals and magazines have relied on charging members, research libraries, and other organizations a subscription fee to recoup their costs. Increasingly, agencies funding research are requiring researchers to publish their findings in open access journals; the implementation of the new policy ensures that IEEE authors can meet those requirements.
