4.2.4. Optimization This procedure makes it possible to determine the combination of experimental factors that simultaneously optimizes several responses. The isoresponses obtained with Eqs. (8) and (9) are superimposed in the same graph (Fig. 9). Fig. 9 shows that the choice of coordinates for the factors to obtain a maximum yield implies a decrease in selectivity. A compromise must be found to choose the optimal area which has a practical and economic interest. Therefore, an optimal experimental domain (the striped oval) can be defined in which the best selectivity is observed from 6.5‰ to 7‰ with a satisfactory yield between 95% and 97%.
