Bioinformatician Vacant positions:5 Job description 1. Liaison the requirements from users and biologists with the design and implementation by designer, modeller and developers. 2. Assess the feasibility of the services of database and tool, by consulting with designer and developer 3. Mappings between the data sets, and between the data and tool sets 4. Metadata discovery from the datasets, and maintain the metadata when they are established 5. Coordinate service development in databases and tools 6. User training for the bioinformatics services 7. Follow up the new developments in bioinformatics data and tools Requirements Advanced degree with 3 years experiences. The skill set includes 1. Good knowledge of public data and tool, and their application in solving biological problems 2. Strong scripting skill in data parsing and formatting. Fluent in shell and Perl/Python, and ability to code in Java/C/C++. Knowledge in R or SAS programming is a plus 3. In-depth knowledge and experience in one of the following areas: database and/or tool development/integration, and data flow and processes in genome analysis and annotation, functional genomics and proteomics. 4. Comfortable to work with Linux/Unix environment 5. Good understanding of data mining principles and methodologies. 6. Good communication skill, fluent in English (writing and speaking) Scientist Vacant position:1 Job description 1. Quality control of the data produced by web applications and tools. 2. Test and sign off the service to be put online 3. Assess the usability for the services of database or tool 4. Follow up the new development in life science, and identify the new services to be developed 5. User training and engagement for the service feedback and requirement collection Requirements Minimum bachelor degree in life science with 3 years experience. The skill set includes 1. Good knowledge in general genomics, proteomics and system biology, as well as the understanding of the major challenges posed by the modern biology 2. Knowledge of omics paradigms and relevant platform technologies 3. Experience in using bioinformatics database and tool services 4. Good communication skill 5. Good English written and spoken skill |
