An invention for Qingming Festival, and more
|

|
It was the Qingming Festival yesterday, a day for membering and honouring our later relatives and ancestors. For the last two Qingming Festivals, I went to the grave of my late father-in-law, and burnt so-called "paper money" to him. Qingming Festival has a long history, and at present we do things as the tradition tells us to do, such as to burn "paper money". The tradition of burning "paper money" is popular in most places in our country. We think that these money will be accepted by the souls of our ancestors, so they can live a better life in another world. People in big cities often burn the "paper money" at the street crosses. In some places, before the buning, people will draw a circle with an open, to show that these money will only go to their own relatives. Still, many people go to the grave sites to burn the "paper money". However, they will often confront two difficulties, one is that in the open wild, it is often not easy to light the "paper money" in spring, because wind is common in northern China in this season. And, after the "paper money" is lighted, wind often drive the burning "paper money" away, this is not acceptable, because we often think that a bill that has not been completely burned will be worn bill, it has no use in another world. Furthermore, the floating, burning "paper money" will increase the possibility of an uncontrolled fire. This is very dangerous in spring in the wild. So, it is better for us to change our habit of memorizing our ancestors. To put a white flower in front the graves, to stand in silent tribute, or to plant some trees beside the graves will all be good choices. For those who can not change their habit, I have an alternative. That is the most important invention for Qingming Festival in the history of this world! Please see the drawing first. The lower half the the equipment is covered completely except an opening for you to light the "paper money" on the uppper half, these two parts are devided with a grid, and the grid makes it possible for you light the "paper money" from below. Because the lower part is covered, so your match or your lighter will not be affected by wind. There are also many holes on the upper part, this makes the burning in the upper part easy, and poeple will also feel the warm and see the red color of the fire, this makes the atmosphere of burning more traditional. And the ash of burning falls on the ground, this is also tradtional, our ancestors will get the money without any difficulty. This equipment also avoids the risk of fire disaster in the wild. So, it is safe, easy to light and traditioinal. Thus, I named it SEL stove! |

What a wonderful invent~But maybe it is not convenient, I think most people don't want to take extra things when they go to tombs. Nowadays, some people burn iphone 4s that made by paper~  |
