2012 PhD Scholarship in Biochar and Greenhouse Gas Emission 已有1人參與

Applications are being sought for 1 full PhD scholarship ($27,000 p.a. for three years) at the Environmental Futures Centre (EFC), Griffith University to work on an exciting project – Linking key properties of biochar to greenhouse gas emission in soil: chemical and molecular mechanisms. This project is funded by Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage project through the collaboration among the University of Western Australia (UWA), Griffith University (GU), the University of Western Sydney, Curtin University of Technology, BHB Iron Ore Pty Ltd, ANSAC Pty Ltd and ENN. This project will involve the assessment of the potential role of biochar in reducing greenhouse gas emission in soil and the elucidation of the processes and mechanisms using combined approaches of chemistry, soil biogeochemistry and molecular microbiology. The project will be based at Griffith University, Nathan Campus in Brisbane, with the majority of field work being undertaken at the BHP Newman mine site. This scholarship is open to Australian citizens and overseas applicants with an Honours degree (1 or 2A) or equivalent in the fields of agriculture, environmental chemistry, soil biochemistry or microbial biology. The successful candidate will be jointly supervised by Associate Professor CR Chen (GU), Prof ZH Xu (GU), Associate Prof Yang Hong (UWA) and Prof DK Zhang (UWA).
