Postdoctoral position in the group of Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics: Interplay between symmetry and topology
Prof. Ki-Seok Kim
Department of Physics in POSTECH and Institute of Edge of Theoretical Science (IES)
We are seeking for an outstanding candidate for a postdoctoral position. The range of the annual stipend is from KRW28,800,000 to KRW32,400,000 (Korean won) depending on the research experience and qualification. Some funds for travel and research activities are provided. The initial appointment is for one year, which is renewable continuously, i.e., 1+1+1+1+1+…, depending on the research performance.
Prof. Ki-Seok Kim worked on quantum phase transitions based on the field theory approach. His research area covers the nature of quantum criticality and the mechanism of unconventional superconductivity, the confinement-deconfinement mechanism in the gauge theory approach for Mott transitions, the interplay between topological excitations (vortices and skyrmions) and itinerant electrons, and the application of the AdS/CFT correspondence to condensed matter physics. Recently, he is studying effects of electron correlations on topological states of matter, covering topological spin liquids and topological superconductors. In addition, he also collaborates with an experimental group on the issue of anomalous transport phenomena in topological insulators. He is preparing for a long-term research project with an experimental group, focusing on the interplay between correlations, disorders, and topological aspects. The candidate will work with Prof. Ki-Seok Kim on related issues.
The deadline for application is 30th (Saturday) June 2012. CV with a publication list will be sufficient, sent to Prof. Ki-Seok Kim, tkfkd@postech.ac.kr or kimks@apctp.org. The selected candidate will get a chance for an interview. He/She will join the group of “Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics: Interplay between symmetry and topology” from August. |
