Creates a compelling vision for his/her area of responsibility in R&D department. Communicates and implements strategies in order to align people, critical resources, and partnerships in meeting project and departmental goals. 2. Anticipates needs, assesses and manages risks and organizational dynamics as well as their implications by developing alternate plans and choices. 3. Champions the R&D safety culture. 4. Possesses a broad level of scientific and technical understanding. Leads PR&D in identifying opportunities for application of existing and new science and technology. 5. Is a representative of R&D around the company. Plays a leading role in aligning R&D with other departments. 6. Champions teamwork, both inside and outside R&D, as a means of achieving project goals. Leads teams as appropriate. 7. Consistently develops people through coaching and counseling. Encourages reward and recognition, is attentive to succession planning needs, and effectively resolves difficult situations. Key Responsibility: 1. Creates and communicates a sense of purpose or vision for self, team or unit consistent with the Porton pledge and mission. 2. Sets priorities consistent with company goals and focuses on high priority opportunities. Allocates resources consistent with priorities. Takes appropriate action in conditions of uncertainty. 3. Ph.D. or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific discipline with a high level of experience-based scientific and technical knowledge 2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in Process Research and Development (including several years of experience as Principal Scientist and/or Project Manager in pharmaceutical or chemical companies) with demonstrated scientific and leadership contributions to major development projects. 3. Demonstrated understanding of the roles, objectives and priorities of the process research and pharmaceutical manufacturing functions. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in this environment. 4. Working knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, including applicable regulatory requirements. 5. Demonstrated ability to work with, influence, and lead individuals and teams in a complex, changing environment. 6. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate positions and ideas and persuade others to accomplish challenging goals and objectives. 7.
