Determine the unknown values of the process using material and energy balances:
1.1 Assuming the molecular formula of the dry wood is CH36/39O15/39, the wood
feed has a flowrate of 1 kg/s, a moisture content of 15% and a temperature of
25°C, the air contains 21mol% of O2 and 79mol% N2, the following reaction
takes place in the gasifier at the temperature of 950°C:
39CH36/39O15/39 + 14 O2 + 5 H2O ———— 18CO + 15CO2 + 11H2 + 6CH4
Determine the total flowrate and the compositions of the syngas, as well as the
reaction heat of the reaction.
1.2 Assuming complete combustion in the gas turbine combustion chamber,
determine the compositions of the gas leaving the gas turbine.
1.3 If 1.8 MW shaft work is generated in the steam turbine and the outlet stream
pressure is 1 bar, determine the heat loss of the steam turbine.
1.4 Assuming there is no heat loss in the heat recovery steam generator,
determine the temperature of the flue gas leaving the heat recovery steam
generator.
In the answer sheet, all the assumptions and references used should be described in detail.
