Laos 3 Megadam Gets Green Light Xayaburi大壩重新開工 Laos has given builders a green light to finish work on a controversial megadam at Xayaburi on the lower Mekong River, after a diplomatic pause this year to consult with neighboring leaders in Cambodia and Vietnam who were concerned about potential ecological impacts (Science, 12 August 2011, p. 814). 老撾和鄰國柬埔寨和越南商議過之后，給建筑公司頒發(fā)了批文，這樣爭議不斷的Xayaburi 大壩（大壩位于Xayaburi 境內(nèi)Mekong河下游）終于可以完工了。今年柬埔寨和越南曾因?yàn)閾?dān)心工程會(huì)有潛在的生態(tài)影響(Science, 12 August 2011, p. 814)，通過外交渠道促使該工程中斷。 Xayaburi, which is projected to cost more than $3.5 billion and generate 1285 megawatts of power, is primarily Thai-financed and will export most of its electricity to Thailand, although a portion of the energy will be resold to other buyers. Xayaburi大壩主要由泰國投資，預(yù)期額度超過350萬美元，發(fā)電量將會(huì)達(dá)到1285兆瓦。其中大部分電力出口泰國，然后泰國會(huì)把其中一部分轉(zhuǎn)售給其它國家。 Laos hopes the project will give its developing economy a huge boost. But opponents say this dam and 11 more now in planning could massively disrupt the lower Mekong’s ecology, slowing the cyclical water movements that replenish the soil and sustain the region’s migratory fish. 老撾希望這項(xiàng)工程能給發(fā)展中的經(jīng)濟(jì)注入一劑有力的強(qiáng)心針，但是反對(duì)者表示Xayaburi壩和籌建中的其它11個(gè)水壩可能會(huì)嚴(yán)重干擾Mekong河下游流域的生態(tài)系統(tǒng)，減緩水循環(huán)，從而破壞土壤再生和本地魚類遷徙。 [ Last edited by myIDname on 2012-11-16 at 09:23 ] |
