In this paper, it was designed and prepared the samples with various interface microstructures between coating and substrate.
The effect of interface microstructure on damping was studied, and the results indicated that the higher interface system damping was corresponding to the larger coating/substrate interface thickness and the more interface defects.
When the micro-hardness ratio of substrate to coating was larger, the damping of coating system was higher.
