3 Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions in Future Energy Ref number: 63/13 Employment: Temporary employment Scope: Full time Closing date for application: 2013-05-13 Campus location: Västerås School of Business, Society and Engineering INTRODUCTION The profile Future Energy is included in one of the four priority strategic areas in MDH. In 2013 the Future Energy Profile is awarded with a grant of ca 83 million SEK by the Swedish Knowledge Foundation (KKS) together with five industrial partners including ABB, Mälarenergi, Eskilstuna Energi och Miljö, Vafab and Aspholmen. Three tracks are included in the profile Renewable Energy Efficiency and Emission Mitigation Smarter Modelling, Optimization & Management We are now announcing a post-doc position within each of the above areas. The aims of the profile are: To pursue fundamental new understanding of materials and processes in energy, chemistry and microbiology that may revolutionize or transform future energy technologies, usually focused on scientific showstoppers; To develop theoretical tools for guiding pre-experiment discovery and modelling by converting and turning complex models, e.g. computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or statistical models, into robust and simplified ones for simulation, optimisation and control purposes; To create benchmark component combinations for enabling technologies, optimise prototype performance and to explore the feasibility of scaling up into industrial applications for solar PV systems, waste and water treatment, biogas production, high temperature gasification, and combined heat and power production and other industrial processes. In total about 50 scientists and researchers work in the research profile Future Energy. When appointing the positions experiences within one or several of the below areas will especially be considered. Experimental design and laboratory work Programming and construction of simulation models Database handling Chemical and microbiological processes related to energy Power and industrial processes The aim is to develop tools that are usable as well as publication of high quality of scientific papers. About 25% for teaching in education will be included in the positions. External funding for developing new projects is also expected so that the researcher can continue work independently for their own research. The duration of the positions is two years with potential to extend two additional years. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To qualify for the appointment as a postdoctoral research fellow (forskarassistent) the candidate will have obtained a PhD during 2005-2013 and also demonstrated scientific and teaching skills in the subject discipline. ASSESMENT CRITERIA For appointment to this position both scientific and teaching experience will be considered, although most importance is attached to scientific excellence in the field. Decisive importance is attached to personal suitability. Individual wage is applied, so it′s desirable that the applicant specifies salary in the application.
