[交流] The most frightening experience in my life

The most frightening experience in my life.

I was a pharmaceutical graduate student in ECUST in 2009. And I still remember it was a cold winter evening. It was already 11 pm When I came back to dormitory from laboratory. My roommate Xiao Dong was playing CS, Yuan Hu was chatting with his girlfriend on QQ, and Shao Chun was reading the news online. After washing I went to bed directly (cause I was so tired). I felt fast sleep along with voice of CS and QQ (notification tone).

Suddenly, I woke up in the middle night. With the weak light of Xiao Dong's computer, I saw my right hand turn red and stiffly. I tried to withdraw it and learnt what happen. But my arm went numb and couldn't move. Just like a chopped-off hand. '' Am I dreaming? or I meet some supernatural events.'' I couldn't think more and use another hand to catch it. What I caught was a cold and stiff hand, I was not dreaming, this was true. It reminded me of T-bag's crippled hand which had been transplant after chopping off in 《Prison Break》. Why this happened to me, it put me into such extreme fear that made me nearly lost my voice. I tried to cool down from the almost out-of-control emotions, and began to think what happened today in the laboratory. '' Did I use any highly toxic chemicals in my experiment ? Did I inhale any poison gas in the laboratory. No, I'm a chemist, and I know what I use and how to protect myself. I'll never make this happen.'' I thought all the detail information about today but got no answer.

At that moment, my stiff hand felt warmth from the other hand which was holding it all the time. I took it into quilt quickly and warmed it up by my body heat. I felt numbness in the beginning, afterward it regained motion and consciousness. I began to know what happen. I got my right hand cold and pressed by my body when I was sleeping. And that make me wake up.

Everything is clear, and I'm so happy to get my hand back. I need to appreciate what I have.

It's my pleasure to get feedback from forum moderator.

That right, we need to keep ourselves warm at night. But it was the first time happened to me, and I was a chemist, I was so frighted and thought I would lost my arm forever.

Yes, but that kind of things really happen in my school and company. There are several accident happened in the lab or workshop. I still remember one of my teacher lost one eye in an experiment, and several colleagues get burn on the fire. So cautious is right.

carelessness does not only bring accident but also disaster...terrible. life is fragile.
safety should come first. the so called research is second.
