Oregon State University, Department of Chemistry Postdoctoral Scholar in Supercapacitors Applicants with Redox Flow Battery Experience are particularly welcome Anticipated Start Date: March-1st-2014 One postdoctoral fellow position is available in JI Materials Electrochemistry Group at Department of Chemistry, Oregon State University to develop a new class of redox electrochemical super capacitors as part of an ARPA-E funded collaborative project with University of Oregon (UO) and UC Santa Barbara (UCSB). The goal of the project is to develop a hybrid capacitor technology that will triple the performance of current electrochemical capacitors and therefore make them attractive alternatives to batteries for transportation applications. Responsibilities will include development and characterization of electrolytes, redox materials and high-surface area carbon electrodes. Measurement and modeling of kinetic, thermodynamic, and mass transfer parameters will be required, and therefore experience in electrochemical characterization is required. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with other team members at UO and UCSB as well as be responsible for preparing periodic written/oral reports to ARPA-E. Salary will be approx. $35,000-40,000/yr along with an excellent benefit package depending on experience. The position will be for one year, renewable for up to two years upon mutual agreement and continuation of the project by ARPA-E.
