The effect of TiB2 content, which formed by in-situ reaction, and sintering temperature on mechanical properties and microstructure of the B4C/Al2O3 ceramic composites was researched. Results show the sintering densification and mechanical properties of the composites are improved with the increase of TiB2 content. The mechanical properties increased with increasing the sintering temperature as the sintering temperature is lower than 1900°C. The optimum properties of B4C/Al2O3 matrix ceramics with 87% TiB2 are obtained when the composite is sintered at temperature of 1900°C and soaking time of 60 min. The hardness, fracture toughness and bending strength of the composite are 248 GPa, 482 MPa·m1/2 and 4452 MPa, respectively.
