2014 James Watt PhD Scholarship 英國(guó)愛(ài)丁堡Heriot-Watt大學(xué)生物力學(xué)與生物材料組PhD全獎(jiǎng) *2014年2月28日申請(qǐng)截至* 課題:組織力學(xué):多尺度結(jié)構(gòu)與其力學(xué)功能在臨床診斷中的應(yīng)用 計(jì)算與實(shí)驗(yàn)相結(jié)合,可根據(jù)學(xué)生背景知識(shí)調(diào)整比例。 課題簡(jiǎn)單來(lái)說(shuō)就是用力學(xué)與結(jié)構(gòu)的分析方法來(lái)研究組織的微觀結(jié)構(gòu)于其生物功能性之間的關(guān)系。最后聯(lián)系到組織在臨床中的診斷與恢復(fù)。招收有力學(xué)/計(jì)算機(jī)或者材料背景的。 全獎(jiǎng)(3年/免學(xué)費(fèi)/每年免稅1萬(wàn)英鎊的獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金) 如果有問(wèn)題請(qǐng)跟貼詢問(wèn),我盡可能回答。 具體內(nèi)容如下: Description: There is ample evidence that structural and mechanical properties of human and animal tissue greatly depend on their microstructures although few models exist to account for the relationship between the structural features at multiple length scales and the tissue functionality. This project will develop tissue models at a range of length scales (from tissue to cellular/sub-cellular) using both experimental and computational approaches. It is expected that this project would address key scientific issues in understanding the relationship between tissue microarchitecture and its functionality and property, not only in healthy condition, but more importantly in its pathological condition where mechanical property of tissue is closely related to grade of disease thus can be adopted as a key index for clinical diagnostics. Working closely with our EPSRC-funded project (EP/K036939/1(2013-2016): A Novel Diagnostic Tool: from Structural Health Monitoring to Tissue Quality Prediction), the successful candidate will work with a group of mathematicians, engineers and surgeons from universities and institutions in collaboration. Value of the Studentship: This is one of the James Watt Scholarships that were recently announced by school of EPS at HWU. It fully covers tuition fees and also provides a tax-free stipend for 36 months. For home/ EU students: £15k annual stipend plus fees. For international students: £10k annual stipend plus fees). Entry Requirements: The ideal candidate should be highly-motivated and have good written and oral communication skills as well as genuine interest in research and publishing your work. In addition, hands-on experimental skills in mechanical/biomedical engineering or prior experience in computer programming/finite element analysis are a plus. A first/master degree in mechanical engineering/mechanics, material science, biomedical engineering or other related fields is desired.
