Detailed phase analysis is a topic of ongoing investigations. According to first XRD results, the aluminum titanate phase did not decompose during thermal shock experiments.(這單詞是上面的) Microcracks within the tialite phase and differences in the thermal expansion coefficients of aluminum titanate and magnesium aluminate spinel are assumed to contribute to the improved thermal shock resistance of the spinel ceramic containing aluminum titanate. Fig. 3 Fracture surfaces of as-sintered spinel samples: a) without Al2TiO5 b) with Al2TiO5. Based on elemental analysis by Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), the composition in point “A” can be attributed to magnesium aluminate spinel, that in point “B” to aluminum titanate. SUMMARY Based on the positive results of investigations on AZT ceramic, the addition of Al2TiO5 has been shown to improve the thermal shock resistance of alumina-rich magnesium aluminate spinel. In comparison with the pure spinel ceramic, the initial strength of the as-sintered ceramic is lowered, but the retained strength after repeated quenching is increased by aluminum titanate. |
