| However, when the cross-linker concentrations are too high, the reaction activity of the cross-linker NMBA would also be high, with enough trace amounts of NMBA to facilitate cross-linking reactions and form a mesh structure (Peng, Xu, Peng, Wang, & Zheng, 2008; Pourjava, Barzegar, & Mahdavinia, 2006). The increase in cross-linking sites and crosslinking density makes the resin network distances closer and the resin hard to stretch, which result in the reduction of the volume of liquid it can hold and the reduction of swelling capacity. Considering the resin water absorbency and hydrogel state results, the cross-linker concentration was found to account for 0.04% ofthe total monomer mass at optimal experimental conditions. |
