A steel component is plated with a monolayer of pure Ni as corrosion inhibitor for room temperature service. After plating the component has to be heat treated at 1100 °C; if the minimum level of protection occurs for a Ni content of 60 %, then estimate the maximum time for which the component can be heat treated. A component is heat treated for half this time, estimate the maximum corrosion rate (mm/year) if the component must retain its corrosion resistance for a minimum of 10 years.） |
