英國格拉斯哥大學合成生物學全獎機會(截止日期1月19日,請感興趣的蟲友盡快申請。 這是格大提供的面向全球的全額獎學金機會,導師是我們同一個大組的Professor Anna Amtmann,德國人。她是一個很nice的人,平?粗軆,但只是對學術問題嚴格,對學生很好。Anna在學術上想法很棒,在她的組里做博士,發(fā)Planf Cell或Plant Phy這個檔次的文章不難。同時在她的組里有幾名很好相處同時認真負責的博后,所以不用擔心技術學習上的困難。在同一個大組里,還有我和師兄兩名中國人,所以也不用擔心初次來英生活語言上的問題。由于之前我和師兄比較努力,Anna對招收中國學生很感興趣,所以歡迎大家申請!如果有興趣,或有什么具體問題,請站內信或盡快發(fā)郵件聯(lián)系Professor Anna Amtmann,anna.amtmann@glasgow.ac.uk。 課題名稱:Light-powered protocells for bio-diagnostics; a synthetic biology project 導師:Professor Anna Amtmann 獎學金來源:MVLS - Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Scholarship 課題介紹: The aim of this project is to develop a minimal synthetic protocell that can report on inorganic and organic substances in water, soil or body fluids. Using a synthetic biology approach (synbio), the student will introduce a light-powered rhodopsin pump into the membranes of protocells made out of robust polymers (polymersomes) generated at high throughput on a microfluidic platform. The electrochemical potential created across the membrane will be used to energize proton-coupled uptake of the targeted substance (e.g. a heavy metal or a disease-related peptide) through a selective cotransport protein, and the resulting internal pH change will be monitored with a pH-sensitive dye. This multidisciplinary project will exploit cutting-edge technologies from photo-biochemistry and biological engineering for a synthetic biology approach to bio-diagnostics. Alongside the laboratory work, the student will critically assess the technology under the responsible innovation (RI) AREA (Anticipate, Reflect, Engage, Act) framework.
